Over the past three decades of walking with Jesus, I’ve learned that God’s plan for our lives is far better than anything we could envision. One of my life verses, Jeremiah 29:11, beautifully captures this, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord, “thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

God knows us even better than we know ourselves and truly desires what is best for us. Yet, we often try to figure things out entirely on our own, which only leads to exhaustion and frustration. Have you ever been there?

To fully embrace God’s plan and purpose for our lives, we must adopt a posture of humility and reliance on God. Humility, though often overlooked in our world, is crucial to living the abundant life He offers. While pride centers on our own perspectives and desires, humility acknowledges God’s authority over our lives.

James 4:7 offers practical wisdom, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Our strength to resist the devil directly depends on our submission to God. Therefore, recognizing His sovereignty and control is the first step toward extraordinary humility.
