Something that always fascinates me is the giant sequoia trees of California. By volume, these are the largest trees in the world—and they have a unique root system. You see, their roots do not extend far below the surface, instead their roots intertwine with nearby sequoias. This means that when strong winds blow, they hold each other up. They endure because they are not alone.
Friend, God designed the Church in much the same way. Through being interconnected with others, our roots are firmly planted and our lives can weather anything that may come. Like sequoias, we grow tall, strong, and resilient when we stand together and support each other. In fact, God’s solution to loneliness is the Church!
Acts 2:42 reveals the interconnectedness of the early church by saying, And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers… Wow! This beautiful picture of healthy, life-giving relationships is how God designed the Church to flourish.
Friend, I want to encourage you today—you don’t have to do life alone. Perhaps you’ve been battling loneliness and maybe feel unseen. There’s hope for you today! The answer is in the Church. You see—community, connection, and relationship are found in the family of God.
