What Are You Eating?

March 14, 2025

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."

John 6:35

Have you ever eaten something that tasted great in the moment, but left you feeling worse afterward?

A few weeks ago, I found myself eating six slices of King Cake—before lunch. It was delicious, yet afterward, I felt awful. The problem wasn’t that I was hungry; it was what I chose to satisfy my hunger with.

The same is true for our souls. Every single one of us has cravings—deep desires for meaning, purpose, and fulfillment. And just like physical hunger, we often try to satisfy our spiritual hunger with the wrong things. We chase after success, relationships, entertainment, or experiences—thinking, “If I just get this, I’ll be fulfilled.” Yet, time and time again, we end up feeling empty.

Jesus addressed this in John 6. After miraculously feeding thousands, the crowds chased after Him, hoping for more food. Yet Jesus saw deeper—He knew their real hunger wasn’t for bread, but for something greater. That’s when He made a bold declaration: “I am the bread of life.” (John 6:35)

Jesus wasn’t offering a temporary fix… He was offering Himself. You see, only He can truly satisfy the hunger of our hearts—bringing lasting fulfillment.

Friend, what are you feeding your soul with today? Are you chasing things that leave you feeling empty? Or are you turning to the One who promises to satisfy you completely?

Let’s lean into this truth together. I’d love to share more with you in this message…
