Years ago, when I taught my kids to ride their bikes, I quickly realized something: getting started was one thing—but keeping their balance and maintaining momentum? That was the real challenge. I could give them a push, but they had to keep pedaling.
The same is true for us spiritually. Many of us have experienced a powerful season with God at the start of 2025. Maybe you’ve committed to reading your Bible more, praying daily, or growing in your faith like never before. Yet perhaps now the mountaintop moment is behind you, and you’re asking yourself, “How do I keep moving forward?”
Hebrews 12:1 gives us a clear roadmap: …since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
This verse highlights three keys to maintaining spiritual momentum:
✔ Find strength from those who’ve gone before you. The“great cloud of witnesses” refers to the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11. Their lives remind us that perseverance is possible! Today, God has placed mentors and godly influences around you to encourage and strengthen your faith. Stay connected to them!
✔ Let go of what’s holding you back. Hebrews calls us to “lay aside every weight” and “the sin which so easily ensnares us.” Some things are sinful, while others are simply distractions. Ask yourself, What is slowing me down spiritually?
✔ Keep your focus on Jesus. Hebrews 12:2 reminds us to fix our eyes on Him, “the author and finisher of our faith.” He is our source of strength to keep going.
Friend, the Christian life isn’t a sprint—it’s a marathon. Momentum is built through intentional daily choices, and the good news is—you don’t have to do it alone. God is with you, and He’s given you people to run alongside you. I’d love to share more with you in this message…
